After the excitement of the Chiltern Cycling Festival last weekend, we caught up with founder and organiser Nick ahead of the next installment of this Summer Cycling Festival - The Chenies Velo Classique. The event is a vintage inspired ride around the stunning Tudor estate of Chenies Manor with vintage bikes, retro clothing, cake and locally brewed beer.
We have organised that all Hill & Ellis customers who dress the part with a Vintage Bike & dress on the day can enter Free into our Concors D'elegance parade at 12.00 for a chance to a WIN Retro inspired cycling Jersey.

1. What is the Velo Classique exactly?
The Chenies Velo Classique is a Summer Celebration of Cycling culture, fashion and classic good taste.
2. How did the Chiltern Cycling festival all come about?
It's the result of two cycling friends Rob Askey & Nick O'Brien combining their passions - bikes, good food, good friends and an appreciation of high quality products and events. Both wanted more than just a bike ride with a plastic medal at the end.
We realised loads of other cyclist felt the same but did not want to make it an exclusive to MAMIL SPORTIVE type event. Instead we set it in the grounds of quintessential country house estates and offer a relaxed day out for all to come and enjoy the unique atmosphere with the stunning Chiltern Hills as the backdrop, pic nics on the lawns, Champagne, Pimms and good company - its a very traditional way to spend a Summers day.
3. Does the Classique have a dress code? And what are you going to wear?
Yes - but not exclusive, we encourage people to dress up. Vintage and British for the Retro inspired, with or without a bike to match its up to you! All we ask is people enter into the summer spirit and use their own good taste and style. My outfit is a close kept secret until the day - tradition with a twist! Also you can also hire vintage bikes for the day from http://glorydays.cc/. They will supply them on the day, just contact them before to book.
4. Can I still take part and if so how?
Yes to ride the events you need to enter online https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/events/details/120683/Chenies-Velo-Classique
Or for more information http://chilterncyclingfestival.com/
If you just want to enjoy the day and cheer on the riders entry is FREE to the grounds, velo village and even the maze! Entry to the historic Manor House is charged on the door.
5. Will there be tea and cake?
Yes! We will have our own Vintage inspired stalls - plus there is a tea room in the Manor House itself.
6. Is there more planned for next year?
Yes - Both Chiltern Cycling Festival at Penn House and the Chenies Velo Classique will be back with even more plans for 2016. Watch this space.
7. What's you favourite Hill & Ellis Bag?
Come along on August Bank Holiday Monday to take part on the ride and to soak up the atmosphere, we will also be there with a stand so come along and say hello.
