Spin Ldn is back and this year it is bigger and bikier than ever. We have a pair of tickets to give away (deets below) but to whet your appetite we caught up with the founder of Spin Ldn, cyclist and the man with his finger firmly on the pulse of modern cycling ... Alex Daw to tell us what hot this year.
As well as featuring all the best, and newest cycle brands on the bike block (including our bike bags) this year's SpinLdn includes a live frame building workshop at the Makers Lounge, talks from the likes of Sky Jaeger of Shinola Bikes and Martyn Ashton - the legendary trail bike rider, a UV tunnel art experience, a bike test track, as well as your competitive alter ego's dream - the Rollapaluza head to head racing challenge. Not to mention some of the best food, coffee and craft beer sellers of London town... It's not to be missed. Have a look at our SpinLdn page here
6 Questions With... Alex Daw, founder of Spin Ldn. http://www.spinldn.com
1. Where did the original idea of SpinLdn come from?
Open access up to the interesting brands in and around cycling, lifestyle & fashion.
2. SpinLdn has grown year on year and this year it's in the amazing location of the Sorting Office, on New Oxford Street. What do visitors have to look forward to?
Loads, the venue is a bit intimidating in terms of size but we will be packing it full of exciting brands (including bike bag brands like yourselves ;) great new features such as the test-track along with an Arthub with workshops/ demos and a UV tunnel, along with the usual Rollapaluza head to head racing. There’s some awesome food and drink this time which we can’t wait to sample. Pulled Pork & Pizza, alongside vegetarian options, artisan coffee from Peloton & Co and craft beer from Beaverton Brewery.
3. What are you most excited about with this years SpinLdn (apart from our stand of course)?
Ha ha, as ever, just seeing it all come together is a great feeling. Probably this Virtual reality E-bove bike which is sort of exercise come gaming which visitors can try, the UV tunnel is going to be fun too!
4. What bike ride would you pass on to fellow cycle lovers .... in London or elsewhere?
In London on a weekday evening (after rush hour) in the summer there’s a nice ride from regents canal from East, Victoria Park which cuts into town, it gets busy but when you hit Regents Park though you can often see the giraffes poking their heads over the fence at the zoo.
5. Fixie or Gears?
Gears, I just have a single speed but looking at a road bike :)
6. What's your Best London hideaway?
The Hideaway, I probably shouldn’t be broadcasting this but it’s on Greek st and in a Soho basement, it’s great and I always take friends there from out of London if I’m in town for a tipple!
We will definitely be checking out the Hideaway, in fact it is close enough for you to come along to Spin Ldn, try out the UV tunnel, the frame building workshop and some craft beers before wandering over to the Hideaway for a de-brief with wine.
